The Makers Atelier and Ditto Fabrics
It’s always a joy to receive in the post something that arrives earlier than expected and is of such a quality that you just have to admire the packaging before even beginning to open it. So it was with The Makers Atelier The Big Easy Top pattern, it arrived the following day from ordering and the pattern envelope was one of the best I’ve seen it shouted quality from the start. On opening the pattern the paper was also of a lovely workable quality no flimsy floaty paper that wafts off the table at the slightest movement. The instructions were clear and well written and very easy to follow.
I choose a delightful pink fabric from Ditto Fabrics called Chalky Pink Knitted Washed Wool Mix. It too arrived the next day even though I’d only paid for second class delivery. The fabric is a 50% Wool 50% Viscose mix and is incredibly soft and warm.
The pattern was very straightforward ideal for beginners or those wanting a super fast sew. There are two versions a cowl neck and the round neck which is the version I made. The detail of the raw edges gives it an interesting style whilst maintaining a lovely relaxed fit. I was between a small and medium size so as the pattern suggested I made the medium. It is a loose fitted style and I am happy with the fit and may try the small next time just to see the difference. I am already planning to make the cowl neck version which I think will become a wardrobe staple, especially over the winter as they are so easy to wear and look great with a pair of skinny jeans. And if you’re like me who feels the cold you’ll be snuggly warm in this little number.
I highly recommend both The Makers Atelier and Ditto Fabrics. A great and happy experience from both 🙂
