English Paper Piecing (EPP)

I’ve made a start on my EPP, just a basic hexagon to begin with. This is just a practise on some scraps before I spend money on lovely fabric. I’m loving Plush Addict’s Spring Hares  http://www.plushaddict.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=spring+Hares Anyway, I cut 2″ hexagons of fabric and using the Sewline Fabric Glue pen basted them to 1.5″ hexagons. The glue pen made this fabulously easy and I was sewing hexagons together in no time. Very nice to sit watching the Comic Relief Bake Off and get a couple of flowers stitched. I’m going to make up one more flower and then look at joining and backing them – perhaps to make a table runner or similar.epp1

Having followed Flossie Teacakes’ blog for a while now, I am really amazed at the EPP patterns she produces … find her here http://flossieteacakes.blogspot.co.uk. So I’m going to give it a go and see how I get on. I’ve got plenty of fabric scraps to practice with and have decided to go with the fabric glue pen to baste the hexagons. This is where I got my hexagons from http://www.sewmamasew.com/january2014/StarHexieTemplate.pdf, as I want to have a go at the star shape too, but you can also get them here http://incompetech.com/graphpaper/trianglehex.html. Wish me luck !epp
